Refresher course begins for frontline foresters

GANGTOK, 16 Jan: A two-week general refresher course for the front-line staff of the Forest Department started today here at the Forest Department conference hall. The refresher course is being organised by Working Plan Circle of Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department and sponsored by Directorate of Forest Education of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Addressing the inaugural function this morning, the Chief Conservator of Forest, CS Rao urged the participants to take the refresher course seriously in order to work more effectively on the field. He suggested more interaction during the programme and encouraged the front line staffs to work harder on the field assuring that the department would fully support their efforts.
The inaugural function started with the welcome address by ACF [WP], Sunil Kumar and concluded with the vote of thanks by ACF [WP], KB Basnett. The function was also addressed by Junior Technical Officer [WP], GB Chettri.
The programme has resource persons from Forest Department and Forest Plus [Partnership for Land Use Science] which is a  technical assistance program of USAID/India. They will be taking classes on different topics and subjects included in this course. The course also includes field visits at different areas. The refresher course is scheduled to conclude on 29 January.
