Substantial hike in consolidated salary package for PGTs and GTs of Science and Mathematics

The Human Resource Development Department has effected a substantial hike in the consolidated salary being drawn by ad-hoc Post Graduate and Graduate Teachers for Science and Mathematics employed in Government schools here. As per an Office Order dated 03 February, the consolidated salary for Science and Mathematics PGTs has been enhanced from Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month and for Graduate Teachers of science and maths, from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 20,000.
The new salary package is to come into effect on 01 March 2015 and extends to existing ad-hoc teachers as well.
The new consolidated salary comes with the caveat of the teachers meeting specific qualifications. PGTs for Mathematics or Physics, apart from holding an M.Sc. degree in the concerned subject, must have subject combination of Maths, Physics and Chemistry in graduate level.
PGT Biology should be M.Sc. in Zoology/ Botany/ Ethno-Botany/ Micro-Biology/ Bio-technology and must have subject combination of Zoology/ Botany or both and Chemistry at the Graduation level.
Similarly, PGT Chemistry must have M.Sc. in Chemistry and should have at least one of the subject combination mentioned for the earlier two combinations at the graduation level.
Meanwhile, for Graduate Teachers of Science or Mathematics, GT Maths should have subject combination of mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at class XII level and should have done B.Sc. with subject combination of both maths and Physics as main subjects.
GT Biology, to qualify for the new salary, should have subject combination of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at class XII level and should have done B.Sc. in Zoology/ Botany or both and Chemistry as main subjects.
The HRDD office order details that candidates - existing and new – meeting the above specifications will draw the new consolidated salaries while PGTs and GTs – both, new and existing – not falling within the specified categories shall continue to draw the consolidated salary as per the previous rate.
