CM interacts with students in Ravangla

Namchi, 19 Aug [IPR]: In continuation with the interaction program with students themed “Invigorating Young Minds in shaping State, Nation”, Chief Minister Pawan Chamling interacted with the students of Ravangla and its surrounding areas today at the Tathagata Tsal conference Hall.
At the onset, the Chief Minister, accompanied by other dignitaries, inaugurated a souvenir stall along with the Tathagata Tsal Bakers. Both the stalls are managed and operated by Self Help Groups of Ravangla under North East Rural Livelihoods Project (NERLP) and are supported by Rural Management and Development Department.
In his address to the students spoke, the CM about the significance of the interaction program which, he said, aims to understand the requirements of the students.
Mr. Chamling spoke about the state government’s initiative of providing quality education and informed that the present state government was investing over 20 percent of annual budget in the education sector. Speaking about the various educational schemes and polices under the state government, Mr. Chamling urged the students to tap maximum potential out of such schemes. The CM also spoke about betterment and welfare of the female students in the state where he reiterated pro-girl child schemes such as Prerna Yojana and Small Family Scheme so as to achieve academic excellence among girl children particularly belonging to weaker economic background.
He also spoke about the importance of skill based education in the present times as hard and soft skill education will enable the students to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of the contemporary era along with training them to become self sufficient.
Additionally, the CM exhorted that the teachers should adopt basic life skill development methods in the class room where by components like leadership quality, self awareness, problem solving, decision making, effective communication, creative and critical thinking will be developed from the grass root level in a holistic manner. Furthermore, the CM also updated the gathering on the matter of Residential Certificate, Sikkim subject, safeguarding the interest of Bhutia and Lepcha community.
Addressing the students HRDD Minister RB Subba highlighted the various state government education policies and schemes. The interactive program was also addressed by area MLA, Minister DD Bhutia, who spoke about the development achieved in the constituency and encouraged the students present to achieve laurels at the state level in various fields
Also present for the program were Speaker KN Rai, Ministers Tulsi Devi Rai, GM Gurung, Chairpersons, Advisors, Adhyaksha (South), DC-South, SP-South, students and teachers.
